At Delivering Hope, our service is designed to support you and your surrogate through each step of the process, guiding and facilitating every detail to make this experience as stress free and enjoyable as possible. We provide support and guidance throughout the surrogacy process from your first consultation until you bring home your baby.
“We are very grateful to have found Delivering Hope because they were so helpful and dedicated from start to finish, guiding us through the many steps and going above and beyond what one would normally expect from a surrogacy agency. Before we found Delivering Hope we had already been through an unsuccessful IVF journey and were definitely at a difficult point in time. With our beautiful son now in our lives we give thanks to Delivering Hope who was so critical to this newfound happiness.”
— Dave, Intended Father
We understand that trusting a stranger to carry your baby is one of the hardest decisions you will ever have to make. That is why we take so much care and consideration in the screening our surrogates. Only 1-2% of our applicants make it through our screening process. It may be hard to understand why someone would want to do this and many people assume it must be for the compensation. While compensation does play a role, we find that most of our surrogates don’t even ask about it during our first interview. Some of our surrogates are nurses, teachers, school counselors and stay at home moms who love being pregnant but don’t want any more children of their own and find themselves wanting to make a difference in someone else’s life.
We know you have a lot of questions. During our first call we will get to know you, learn of your desires and needs for this journey, take the time to explain the process, and answer all of your questions. Our promise to you is to always keep you well informed and educated, every step of the way.
You will complete an application outlining your preferences and expectations as well as a profile that will be used to match you with a surrogate.
We match surrogates and intended parents on many factors including communication styles & preferences, termination stance, personality, and criteria unique to each party. Once we have a potential match, we will share surrogate and intended parent profiles. If you are interested, we will conduct a video chat meeting. If everyone agrees to move forward, we have a match! The 1st agency payment is due and contact information is exchanged.
Your surrogate and her spouse will undergo additional medical screenings. Your, your surrogate, and your spouses will have a psychological evaluation individually, then as a group. Once complete, you are ready to start contracts.
Delivering Hope will help you find an attorney licensed and experienced in surrogacy contracts in the appropriate state. They will draft the first contract. Delivering Hope will assist your surrogate in finding a separate attorney to discuss and make any revisions to the contract. Around 20 weeks, your attorney will also start the parentage process so everything is ready for the birth.
Once contracts are signed, your surrogate will be ready to start the medication cycle. She will receive a calendar from your IVF clinic outlining all of the upcoming medications and appointments. She will begin medications to prepare her body for the embryo transfer. She will have several ultrasounds and lab test so monitor her uterine lining and hormone levels. We will help facilitate any travel arrangements for the transfer appointment.
The fertility clinic will schedule the embryo transfer. If the surrogate is out of town, she will travel in the day before. Many intended parents attend this event in person and spend time with their surrogate. Your doctor may require 48 hrs of bedrest before your surrogate can travel home.
About 10 days post-transfer, pregnancy will be confirmed via a blood test. Your surrogate will have several appointments to monitor the rise of her hormone levels. An ultrasound will be scheduled for 6-8 weeks to confirm a heartbeat and base compensation payments will begin. Around 8-10 weeks of pregnancy your surrogate will be transferred to an obstetrician in her area for the duration of the pregnancy.
Delivering Hope will continue to support you and your surrogate in any way we can throughout the entire pregnancy. We encourage you to attend or video conference in to appointments. Send your surrogate belly buds with your voices recorded for the baby to listen to, get your nursery ready, and get lots of sleep because pretty soon you may not get much!
Surrogate base compensation starts at $45,000 but can vary slightly by surrogate. Delivering Hope will provide a copy of a potential surrogate’s compensation package upon presentation of a profile.
